We study the Coxeter matrices and the homological quadratic forms of -hereditary algebras within the framework of higher dimensional Auslander–Reiten theory. Let be a finite dimensional -hereditary algebra with the Coxeter matrix and the homological quadratic form . We prove that if is -representation finite, then there exists a positive integer such that . In the case is an odd number, we show that if there exists a positive integer such that , then is -representation finite. Let be the subcategory of which is a higher analogue of the module category in the context of higher dimensional Auslander–Reiten theory. We introduce a Grothendieck group associated with and show that it is isomorphic to the Grothendieck group of . We further prove that if the restriction of to is positive definite, then is -representation finite for odd . To prove these results, we first show that indecomposable -preprojective and -preinjective modules are uniquely determined up to isomorphism by their dimension vectors for odd . We also provide examples of -representation finite algebras that the restriction of to is not positive definite.
