We prove that the coefficient of $t^2$ in $\mathsf{t}\mathsf{r}\mathsf{a}\mathsf{c}\mathsf{e}((A+tB{)}^6)$ is a sum of squares in the entries of the symmetric matrices $A$ and $B$.
