UV Radiation Measurement of Nitrogen in shock focusing facility

A study on UV radiation in shock focused gas has been carried out in high temperature radiating Air experimentally. Spherical shock wave focusing was achieved with the help of a contoured converging section attached to a shock tube. The measured radiation is compared with SPECAIR software to find out that the radiation corresponds to the emission of N2+ Meinal transition. The temperature of the radiating gas was estimated from SPECAIR and was found to be around 6000K.
