We estimate exponential sums with the Fermat-like quotients where and are positive integers, is composite, and P(n) is the largest prime factor of . Clearly, both and are integers if is a Fermat pseudoprime to base , and if is a Carmichael number this is true for all coprime to . Nevertheless, our bounds imply that the fractional parts and are uniformly distributed, on average over for , and individually for . We also obtain similar results with the functions and ${\widetilde h}_g(n) = gh_g(n)$.
