Sigma Model Corrections to the Confining Background

Sigma model (${\alpha }^{\mathrm{\prime }}$) corrections to the confining string background are obtained. The main result is that the Poincar'e invariant ansatz is maintained. Physical conditions for the dissapearance of the naked singularity are discussed.
