We apply Poisson formula for a strip to give a representation of Z(t) by means of an integral. F(t)=∫−∞∞7coshπ7x−th(x)ζ(4+ix)dx,Z(t)=(41+t2)21(425+t2)21ℜF(t). After that we get the estimate Z(t)=(2πt)47ℜ{eiϑ(t)H(t)}+O(t−3/4), with H(t)=∫−∞∞(2πt)ix/27cosh(πx/7)ζ(4+it+ix)dx=(2πt)−47n=1∑∞n21+it11+(2πn2t)−7/22. We explain how the study of this function can lead to information about the zeros of the zeta function on the critical line.
