Bi-layer-dimerized chiral liquid crystals

There is a large variety of bi-layered structures with smectic A type ordering. Results of this paper contribute to a theory of bi-layered phases. The difference between the $Sm{C}_A^{\ast }$ and $Sm{C}_{\alpha }^{\ast }$ phases is described in this latter paper and it is explained by existence and non-existence of the dipole moment pairs.
