We study the decomposition of certain reducible characters of classical groups as the sum of irreducible ones. Let be an algebraic group of classical type with defining characteristic , a dominant weight and the Weyl group of . Let be a finite classical group, where is a -power. For a weight of the sum of distinct weights with viewed as a function on the semisimple elements of is known to be a generalized Brauer character of called an orbit character of . We compute, for certain orbit characters and every maximal torus of , the multiplicity of the trivial character of in . The main case is where and is a fundamental weight of . Let denote the Steinberg character of . Then we determine the unipotent characters occurring as constituents of defined to be 0 at the -singular elements of . Let denote the Brauer character of a representation of arising from an irreducible representation of with highest weight . Then we determine the unipotent constituents of the characters for , and also for some other (called strongly -restricted). In addition, for strongly restricted weights , we compute the \mult of in the restriction for every maximal torus of .
