Proper holomorphic mappings of the spectral unit ball

We prove an Alexander type theorem for the spectral unit ball ${\mathrm{\Omega }}_n$ showing that there are no non-trivial proper holomorphic mappings in ${\mathrm{\Omega }}_n$, $n\ge 2$.
