The -additive codes are subgroups of , and they can be seen as linear codes over when , as -additive codes when , and as -additive codes when . A -linear generalized Hadamard (GH) code is a GH code over which is the Gray map image of a -additive code. For every prime , there are recursive constructions of -linear GH codes with and , and of -linear GH codes . We show that the kernel blocks of a nonlinear code give equivalent punctured codes, and that these punctured codes are linear. Any of them is called the derived code of . We also determine the ranks of the codes and . For odd , the rank of depends on the Bernoulli numbers modulo . By comparing the derived codes and the ranks, we show that, for odd , no code is equivalent to any of these -linear GH codes. For , a nonlinear code is equivalent to a -linear Hadamard code if and only if . Finally, we count the nonequivalent codes in the union of both families.
