Makhlin polytopes are Demazure string polytopes

We show that Makhlin’s polytopes in type $B_n$ are unimodularly equivalent to string polytopes for Demazure modules in type $B_{2n-1}$. The proof passes through type $C$, combining Makhlin’s diagonal comparison with symplectic FFLV polytopes and the $B\mathrm{/}C$ similarity for string cones.
